The Mystery of Marriage

My Role As His Wife

It’s an honor.
I am confident in my role and of my impact on him and his career
He knows my strength and values my point of view
He lifts me up as holy and I become so.

I honor and respect him in his work and dedications
I see his greatness in his every action

We know deep down our motives are the same

We let each other be human
And smile at our quirks
(We choose to see them as quirks rather than annoyances)

We choose to be each other’s greatest admirer

We point each other toward our best self
In the name of Jesus God

Always.      But we goof up.

Sometimes it’s difficult,
and requires us to deny the selfish thing inside of us.
and hold my tongue. Because I’m wrong.
Always it’s miraculous when we overcome common weakness.
We both must do things we would rather not do
Always meetings, laundry, weeding, deadlines

Now

We throw ourselves onto the dance floor not knowing what the next song is going to be,
But only that we’ll each joyfully hold up our end of the bargain
and dance in unison with the other.

I trust his lead and he feels the rhythm of my heart.
We are intertwined.

I know it’s going to be fun when he says
“Don’t Let Go.”
