With all this, can we possibly think big enough?

With all this, can we possibly think big enough?

As I drifted off to sleep last night, my mind was spinning with the truth that we are charging ahead in a new year filled with new pathways and excitement …and we must choose. Every day, as always, we have to make choices about how to spend every minute when so many needs call for our attention. As we launch and grow consulting business, and have exciting conversations with companies about truly invigorating positions in exciting cities and we weigh our priorities. We realize we are living a season of vibrating thresholds. I wrote about it in May … maybe it’s a continuing season or a new phase. Every day we are together and we acknowledge that this time is ponderable. The gift of a season to invent and explore. Who better to do it? we marvel. Our...

Vibrating Thresholds

Vibrating Thresholds

I know, weird.  But the idea of vibrating thresholds is once again the best way to describe this time. It’s my new way of thinking about life change that we can sense but can’t see to the other side.  Sometimes it’s merely waiting. But often it’s continuing to heed the insistences on our heart. Walking towards the dream. Steve’s and my world is often filled with the NEXT BIG IDEA. It’s how we roll around here. Brainstorming is in our blood and we travel great tangental rabbit trails of possibilities for businesses, movies, gazebos, retreats, adventures, books, … (wait, gazebos? ya, he wants one). Committed Dreamers

Maybe we should be committed.  (hmmm… does it negate the “committed” part if we say “maybe”?)  Scratch that; let’s keep going. Saturday: Today we have a two-hour drive to Riley’s weekend volleyball tournament, and we accept the opportunity to ponder yet another transformational life-moment.  This week we made some key decisions. We settle into the truth that both Steve and I signed up for a new level of accountability and growth; both of us entering into separate programs conducted by the spectacular Dr. John Townsend.  The challenge (for me, at least) feels like college, and the excitement is even more so.  What am I thinking?? We do know that what God has directed and bestowed upon us represents what He believes we can do. The vision and...

What Would It Look Like If We Really Did It?

What Would It Look Like If We Really Did It?

Anyone over 40 will likely remember the movie DEFENDING YOUR LIFE.  Albert Brooks and Meryl Streep and the rest of the newly dead are shown movie clips of their life on the big screen.  In the movie, Brooks needs to defend his life-decisions that were rather dumb or cowardice. Streep gets to see puffy moments of bravery. First, I’m really really really really overjoyed that in this life my sins are covered up and I won’t need to look at them again. But let’s pretend… Yesterday we discussed the 14th Chapter in Mathew’s Gospel.  Among other things, it’s the place where we hear the account of Peter stepping out of the boat in a storm after Jesus has invited him to “COME!”  For a brief and fabulous moment, Peter is filled with overwhelming...

Leading through “What If”

What if all my years in advertising agency management don’t belong in a box that I put on a shelf as I embark on this new journey of writing+God+women+growing? All those years of training in how people from myriad starting points can travel toward a beautiful new destination…    Shouldn’t I assume that those skills are exactly the tools I need to confidently assume the next role that God has in store? What if it’s not about starting over, but rather creating a new layer that starts here? From this unique vantage point? I talk about my 25+ years in big-budget branding, marketing, communications strategies, retail bridging, (blah blah blah) as if they are that other part of my life that is now transformed by a gracious and inviting God. ...
