Our Kids, Our Family,  The Mystery of Marriage

Being Present

She moved the pillow to the center of the bed:  submission to the truth.  He is with Jesus and her life is changed.  How can she be happy that he’s gone?  How can we celebrate the joy of heaven when we have such guttural pain in our body?  It’s the most ultimate choice that we must work through in our own abilities.

Mom has turned her life over to God’s Plan countless times in 77 years.  This will be her highest mountain to climb so far, I imagine.  She has taught me to trust, keep going, stand firm and be joyful with our life no matter the challenge.  “Turn it over to God,” she said.  Never saying it without herself knowing so deeply what that means.  I am present for her now, understanding the joy of motherhood solves lots of woes. And understanding the loss she feels inside is hers alone to process.  All is love.
